Security Question

A: As an additional security measure to protect your account, you will now have to provide the name of a character on your account in order to log in to Guild Wars.
Q: What if I don't have any characters created on my account yet?
A: No problem. If you don't have any characters on your account, just leave the security question field blank. Once you create a character, however, you'll have to enter your character name in order to log in.
Q: What if I've forgotten the name of the character on my account?
A: Just contact Support and we'd be happy to help you out.
Q: If I have been disconnected from the game, will I have to re-enter my character name when I log in?
A: Yes.
Q: Will I need to answer the security question under any other circumstances?
A: If you add an item key to your account, you will have to enter a character name to log in.
Q: I have more than one character on my account. Does it matter which character name I use when I log in?
A: No. As long as you enter a valid character name that's assigned to your account, you can log in.
Q: Do you have any other additional security tips to help protect my account?
A: If you're concerned about security, consider changing your password. Make sure you use a unique password for your Guild Wars account.

In the middle of the freakin' Snowball tourney.
Wtf.
Also, this probably means that the -password and other similar commands are useless now.

I'm not really sure if this is security or not.
I ran into a huge problem: I can't recall names of characters on my storage accounts. I never looked at their names, I simply just logged out of one account and onto the other.

I guess the only thing this did was make it so the hackers have to know who they are hacking? lol

Requiring a character name without warning
I hope I'm not the only one, but I don't know the full name of my character, and now I have to submit a ticket to ncsoft. Anyone else having this same problem?

I just submitted a ticket. I cannot recall the names of all but two of my accounts.
This is insane. I understand their logic, but is this really going to stop anything? I suggest making this an optional function, at least allowing us one-last login to see the character names on each account before locking us into this function.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL Hackers just cockblocked by aNet
GG on the new login system. Gold selling companies and a HUGE portion of hackers just got a big fat loogie to the face.
If this is the incorrect place for this, please move it. Thanks in advanced.

Dunno how much it will help, seems to me if you can get a password you should be able to get a character name too but I'm no hacker so don't take my word for it.

LOL, I just started a secondary account this morning at like 3 AM on no sleep. I sure as hell don't remember the name I used.
I do think this is a step in the right direction, even if the timing is pretty bad for me

Lmao, if you aren't being sarcastic, I think this is fantastic. Absolutely awesome job ANET. What this PRIMARILY blocks are the attacks coming from the NC site, because even if they change the pass chances are they will NOT know a character name on you account. Chances are.. hackers don't know character names of the people they are hacking, this is awesome.
Kudos Anet, kudos. I love you.
EDIT: THis site fails along with it's timeouts. GG to that.

I made this character a couple years ago, I created a first name then when I found out you need two names and I created a stupid second one. Now I need to waste time creating stupid thread while I wait for my ticket to get answered
EDIT: Looks like my thread got merged

No, I am being dead serious. This is an amazing fix to all the hacking going around. I never expected this to be implemented and happy it was.
Now the people who invest 4+ years into their accounts can have a HUGE piece of mind whike sleeping or going away on vacation ect ect.
